Not All “Lost Dog Stories” End Badly for the Dog!

I love dogs.

I believe, with all my heart, the closest thing to God’s love on this earth is found in a dog. They love us unconditionally – just like God does.

With the uprising of social media, I see posts to "help find lost dogs" on a weekly basis.

It totally breaks my heart.

The Sidewalk

I walk my boyz (“dogs” if you are a friend I have yet to meet) on the sidewalk almost every day. We encounter lots of people on the sidewalk, with the exception of the Winter months. Most people are weenies and don’t get out much during the cold weather. We do. Today it was 33 degrees.

Today we passed only one other person. A lone lady runner.

A few weeks back we passed a group of runners. The boyz and I stepped off the sidewalk as we normally do so the runner’s stride would not be interrupted. I understand this because I used to run back in the day. I hated to stop.

They passed by without a “thank you” or any hint of a smile – just like always.

On that day, I decided that I would “never” step off the sidewalk for runners again. My thoughts got ugly as I concluded what an arrogant bunch they are.

Happy Birthday Jesus

It’s almost time. A chill is in the air, people are laughing and singing, the madness of the season is going strong. Christmas Time is Here! So much to do because Santa Claus is coming to Town

Ring those Silver Bells - there are parties to attend, gifts to purchase, packages to wrap and lots of food to prepare. Are you Rockin Around the Christmas Tree?  Christmas trees to purchase, lights to hang and we can’t forget to Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly.  Candy to make, cookies to bake, dinners to plan and friends to see.

It is going to get craaaa-ra-zy.

"Hello" from my Furry Boyz

Guess what?  "Today" is the day!

A special day that I will let you meet my boyz. Exciting stuff happening here.

Since we have been friends for a while, I think I it is time. You know, sorta like you don't introduce your new boyfriend to the folks until you are sure if you like him?

I had to be sure I that liked you. I like you. Very much.

They wanted to introduce themselves to you. They were worried that I would leave out how the special details.

Are you ready?

Here we go....hold on....

A Blonde, Vodka and a Cake

Friends and family occasionally stop by while I am decorating a fondant covered cake.

There is always a bottle of cheap vodka sitting on the counter.

They always ask if I drink vodka while decorating cakes.  I explain to them that no, I do not drink vodka but I use the vodka to clean up any smudges, etc., on the fondant.

My Top Five Budget Beauty Secrets

I am a middle-of-the-road kinda skin-care and make-up gal.  I love the luxurious products and make the occasional “splurge” purchase but for the most part, I always come back to the more budget friendly products.

I believe “genes” have everything to do with our "best and worst" features.  If you are born with good skin, hair, eyes, etc., play it up.  Otherwise, cover up those problem areas the best you can.  My problem areas are bad nails and thick, frizz-ball hair that is totally of the devil.  They both require a massive amount of work and I was "over it" about 30 years ago!

I have never become so attached to a luxury item that I could not live without it.  My skin care and make-up routine is fairly basic - nothing extravagant and nothing extremely fussy.

Random Observations - "Friends"

Facebook happened.   It was and is a good thing. Seriously.  I still believe this.  Really.

At the end of the day, I love facebook.

If you want to share with all of your friends and family that your dog just ate an entire bag of white chocolate truffles including the plastic wrappers, well it’s a good thing.

No more texts, emails or phone calls.  Just post it on facebook and

Meet Me at the Farmer's Market

I love Saturday mornings and a "Saturday morning date morning" is all the better.

The hubster and I go to the farmer's market, hit up a few garage sales and enjoy nice breakfast out.

Living a simple life can be a lot of fun.

Low Country Boil - The Southern Way

Each year our fabulous friends hosts a "low country boil."  If you are a foodie like I am, there is nothing like this in the entire world. It is a one pot buffet kinda thing.

It is AMAZING, people.

If you have never been a part of a low country boil, you must.

What goes into the pot depends on what you like. Sometimes there are only one or two seafood items, along with the corn, sausage, potatoes and spices.

"THIS" is the Story of My Kitchen

We moved into our current home back in 2008 because of our new dog, Max, aka..."The Poodle." The daddy found Max near a busy highway.  A big, beautiful yellow lab with a beautiful heart to match.  We couldn't help but to give him a home.  Max and The Daddy had a "love at first sight" kind of thing."

Max didn't fit in our former home or our old neighborhood.  Actually, he CLASHED all the way around.  About 18 months of "clashing" was all I could take.  We then moved to a new home and a neighborhood where Max now fits in perfectly.

Yes, you read that correctly.  We moved to a better home for the new dog.

Naked Ladies Rule

Today after swim class I went into the sauna.  I never know what I may find in there.  Always surprising.  For the past week it has been a little boring - older mother/daughter duo have been using the sauna as a locker room to change clothes after swim class.

Yawn.

Today was no exception -  mother/daughter duo, check.   Green tee-shirt on my spot.  What?  How dare they dry their clothing on my spot.  I asked if it belonged to either one of them.  They told me it was there when they came in.  I moved the shirt and positioned myself on my spot.

Ho-hum.  Same ol.

That is until the door opened and the owner of the green tee-shirt walked it.  I peeped up at her and could tell she was a tad bit miffed that I had moved her tee-shirt.

Obsession Yard Sale

It is no secret to anyone that the hubster and I are avid yard salers.  Come Saturday morning, we are armed with our yard sale menu and out the door by 8 a.m. at the latest.  We have breakfast around 10ish and swing by the farmer’s market but yard saling is the main attraction.  It is sort of like a date morning instead of a date night.  “Going” is not an option.  I will go.  He will go.  WE will go unless we are in bed deathly ill or someone is dead.

When we married I had “dabbled” in yard saling.  I didn’t know it was dabbling until I introduced it to the hubster.  With him, it took.  It took with a vengeance.  His vengeance rubbed off on me.  In the past if I happened to be out Saturday mid morning and I saw a yard sale, I would stop and check it out.  I thought that was a big deal but it wasn’t.    Not without a menu.  A plan.  An alarm set for Saturday morning.  The car gassed up and ready to go.  A review of the menu.  Conversation.  Weather concerns.  Yeah, when the hubster got involved it got BIG.  Really BIG.

Now it is a given.  Saturday morning.  Game on.

Stitches

Our son, daughter-in-law and the coolest grandboy in the world, Colby, visited for the weekend a while back.  It is always great when they visit because we enjoy many of the same things such music, the arts, photography, cooking, the beach, and on and on and on.

On this visit Amber wanted to learn to do loom knitting so she could make some baby hats.  We went to the craft store and bought her the looms and about 50 balls of yarn.  Yeah, she is like me – do it in a BIG WAY or don’t do it at all.

The “Wait” is Over

After waiting and waiting and waiting, the garden groceries have finally “arrived!”  Check out  the tomatoes and the one "lone wolf" banana pepper!

The best is yet to come!
