Springtime in the South

If I had to chose between Spring and Fall, I'm not sure what my answer would be.

During the Fall the hot summer temps begin to drop and the nip in the air ushers in the beauty of the Fall. The mountains come alive with the vibrant color of foliage.

People from all over visit our mountains during this time of year.

On the other side of Fall, the bitter cold temps of Winter are anxiously awaiting.

A Happy Bunny Cake and a few Surprises!

I have been thinking about a very simple cake design with PEEPS on top. So silly I know but I have never made a PEEPS cake.

It would be a small cake, covered with pipped white grass and the PEEPS perched on top. It would be cute and very simple!

A few days later, I decided to just do it. I was driving myself insane thinking about it so much.

I do that kind of thing. Do you? I think I have told you before that most of the simple projects I take on somehow become bigger, more complex and the most time consuming. It is true. Just don't remind the hubster of this this, please.

"Let it Snow" - A Photo Journal

I love it when it snows BIG. I am talking about one of those wet-stick-to-everything kinda snows. The kind that covers the ground completely with the white, beautiful, billowy beautifulness.

I wonder if "beautifulness" is an actual word? If not, today it will be. I sorta like it.

The Painted Sky

Today I woke up to the most beautiful sunrise.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

I live in the city and it is very difficult to get a sunrise or sunset shot.

To many light poles, street signs, power lines, etc. in the way.

But today.....

The Beauty of the Fall

Today I told "The Poodle" that he was a porker.  Yes, I did that.  He didn't care. Then I said to him, "You are going to go on a diet. End of story."  It didn't faze him.

He immediately wanted to go for a walk. We did. Exercise, you know.

It is easy to put your dog on a diet.  Put me on a diet? Not so much.

I start a diet every, single day.  But then somewhere along the way, something happens.

Tips for Photographing Children

One of my biggest pet peeves in our day of digital photography is the "fake smile."Everyone has a digital camera, ipad or iPhone and children are used to hearing, "I am going to take a picture, smile!

Cup Cake Party for One

I had the all best intentions and great expectations.  It was father's day and I wanted to try my first "people" photo shoot.  The granddaddy, the daddy, and the grand babies were in the building - all in the same place at the same time.

Perfect opportunity. Perfect day.

After hours of "talk" of whether the photo shoot would or would not happen, the boys finally consented.

YAY!

Well, almost a YAY.

The girls were excited about the photo shoot.  It didn't take me long to "get it" that the boys were not "in the mood."  I took along a football, a cupcake and a blankie for props.  Good thing I didn't insist on bringing the antique family rocking chair along to the location.

It was not meant to be.

Springtime Baby Blossoms

Spring had to duke it out with Winter this year.  Winter was relentless.

Would. Not. Give. It. Up.

Just last week it was snowing....in April.

Geeezzz.

This week the temps have been in the 70's and a lot has happened outside like, right now.

Flowers are blooming but the trees are still bare.

Cra---raz----zy baby!
