How to Make "Clean" White Bread

I am happy today. Do you want to know why?

Yeast.

I am happy to report to you that I have successfully made white yeast bread.

I have always be scared of yeast - not sure why but now looking back, there was no reason to be scared.

Buffalo New York - Hot Cheesy Chicken

Have you ever had the "January Blues?" You know, after New Year's when all the excitement of the holidays settle down and you are like, uuuhhhhh, what am I supposed to do now, kinda funk?

Yes? I thought so.

Happens to the best of us from time to time.

This year it hit me hard. Like "hammer pounding" hard. Not kidding.

"Quickie" Christmas Bark

Merry Christmas Eve!

I must admit - I have never made Christmas bark, chocolate bark or any other kind of bark. I didn't realize how easy it is.

I had a sample of "tart cherry" chocolate bark at the Holiday Market a few weeks ago. It was LOVE at first taste!

I purchased a bag of the tart cherry candy crunch so I could make it for Christmas.

I made it. Then I lost it.

Yep.

Donna's Savory Tomato Pie

Several years ago one of my co-workers gave me a recipe for a Tomato pie.

I had never heard of such a thing and doubted I would ever make it because, to be honest, it didn't sound very appetizing at all.

I filed it away and tried to forget about it but my co-worker kept asking if I had made the pie.

I really didn't want to.

But I finally did.

Ina's Frozen Key Lime Pie

Do you like Ina Garten?  I do. She seems so sweet and so calm.

I like "calm." "Calm" is not so much in my blood so I am naturally drawn to those who are.

The hubster is naturally calm. I am happy he is because he needs that trait to deal with me.

I am more rowdy than calm.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cake Tutorial

My favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter cups.  Not the new "mini's" and not the full size candy bar.  I like the little guys.  The bite size ones that are individually wrapped.

Wanna know why?  If I eat the bite size, it doesn't count so I can eat as many as I want.

The full size candy bars?  I never touch them.  Way too many calories.

Cookie Butter Krispies with Caramel Sauce

Have you tried the new cookie butters already?  They are "out of this world" good. If you haven't tried one, you missing out on some real good stuff.

I made "cookie butter krispie treats" this weekend and oh my - I could have eaten the entire pan.

Low Country Boil - The Southern Way

Each year our fabulous friends hosts a "low country boil."  If you are a foodie like I am, there is nothing like this in the entire world. It is a one pot buffet kinda thing.

It is AMAZING, people.

If you have never been a part of a low country boil, you must.

What goes into the pot depends on what you like. Sometimes there are only one or two seafood items, along with the corn, sausage, potatoes and spices.

Cupcake Project 1935

Yesterday, I just happened to remember that I am in possession of one of my grandmother’s cookbook from way back in the day.  I got it out and looked through it.  It was very interesting reading.  It was like finding a hidden treasure inside my own house.

The book name was “Rumford Complete Cookbook, Revised.”  I couldn’t find a date anywhere in the book but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t one at one time.  Several pages were torn so I will assume some are missing.

Jalapenos on the Half Shell

I wanted to do something with all the jalapeno peppers that are coming out of the garden.  You would be totally amazed at how many jalapenos that one small plant can produce!  It is like there is no stopping it.  AMAZING.

A Beautiful Blue

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a food snob.  I will eat just about anything with the exception of escargot and turtle.  Some things are just not meant to be food.  Mr. Smith is convinced that my favorite food is Caesar salad.  He is probably correct.  Lame, I know.

A Caesar salad snob?  That would be me.  Really?  Yes, and we are moving on.
